LAS VEGAS (NAB Booth W2801) April 11, 2024 – Leading video software provider Synamedia, will demonstrate its dynamic video network portfolio at the 2024 NAB Show in Las Vegas, April 13-17. From B2B distribution, D2C streaming, edge delivery, ad-insertion and beyond, booth W2801 will feature high-quality, reliable, and scalable solutions that broadcasters, content owners and service providers need to connect audiences, especially sports fans, to their desired video content. With a focus on IP video delivery transition, cloud and SaaS services, and sports streaming experiences, Synamedia’s NAB booth is set to cover all the bases for show attendees seeking innovation and ROI.
Fast & Frictionless B2B Distribution
At NAB, Synamedia will showcase its robust B2B distribution portfolio, designed to give content owners a fast and frictionless way to transition to IP distribution. The centerpiece is the debut of the MEG.mini edge gateway that makes it cost-effective to deliver small numbers of channels by using optimized, flexible software-based processing on low-cost platforms. Unlike traditional receivers that require large investments, Synamedia’s MEG.mini cuts CapEx and is available with a full OpEx usage model, giving content owners the agility and scalability to meet their changing business needs while cutting costs by up to 80%.
For broadcasters and content owners seeking secure and reliable distribution to affiliates, Synamedia offers SaaS Quortex PowerVu and on-premise PowerVu video distribution solutions. Leading regional sports network, Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE), recently deployed Synamedia PowerVu to distribute high-value sports content and other programming to the new Monumental Sports Network. Synamedia will also feature its award-winning Quortex Link one-click solution that enables sports content owners to cost-effectively and dynamically distribute new channels or live events globally in a matter of minutes with a low risk pay-as-you-use model
D2C Streaming enhancements
Synamedia’s SaaS-based D2C streaming portfolio empowers content owners and OTT service providers to deliver premium content and global events to millions of viewers. Synamedia’s virtual Digital Content Manager (vDCM), which recently became available in the Google Cloud Marketplace, is now integrated with Quortex Play. This integration gives streamers greater control over quality of experience (QoE) and latency while adding the ability to distribute event highlights using Synamedia’s cDVR solution. Quortex Play is available in various service plans from self-service through to full, white glove service with hands-on support from Synamedia experts.
At NAB, Synamedia will demonstrate Quortex Play via a new sports streaming dashboard that aggregates the entire sports event management experience to efficiently deliver streaming services at scale. It includes advanced advertising capabilities and allows users to create impactful game highlights to increase engagement with fans.
Scalable Edge Video Delivery
Synamedia will highlight the performance benefits of bringing edge delivery infrastructure as close to viewers as possible. New Fluid EdgeCDN capabilities on display will include the ability to add content from multiple sources and to combine CDNs for scale and resistance – increasing monetization opportunities.
New content steering features allow the seamless direction and re-direction of content over multiple vendors’ CDNs to deliver the ‘winning’ play for content owners. In addition, Synamedia is broadening its customers’ playbooks by enabling more information to be communicated to upstream CDNs in open caching deployments, including Common Media Client Data (CMCD). Combined with the power of real-time analytics for full QoE visibility, broadcasters and content owners can better manage their streaming performance, providing fans with the quality viewing they want for their favorite sports leagues.
Dynamic ad insertion
Synamedia will unveil its modular approach to server-side ad insertion (SSAI) which includes low latency ad insertion at scale using HLS Interstitials to increase advertising fill rates during large sports events. Additional monetization demonstrations will spotlight live shoppable ads with real-time analysis and instant call to purchase features.
Innovation Corner
Under the banner of helping providers increase profit margins and cut costs, Synamedia will unveil CDN advancements including: the implementation of the latest multi-tenancy standards such as Content Steering, CMCD and OpenCaching; AI-based video compression that can dynamically adapt image quality based on the content complexity for up to 30% CDN savings; and a breakthrough in distributing B2B content globally via a new Content Hub Marketplace.
On Sunday, April 14th, the Synamedia booth will feature a live broadcast of the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals, taking place in Las Vegas using Synamedia technology. Viewers will have a true “in-stadium” experience with the ability to watch from the race from different camera angles instantly and view real-time statistics on mobile devices.
“As sports fans convert to streaming to watch live sports, they continue to demand new, high-quality and impeccable viewing experiences,” said Julien Signes, EVP, Video Network, Synamedia. “Our portfolio revitalizes sports viewership across the full spectrum from B2B distribution, and D2C streaming through to edge delivery. At NAB, I have no doubt that we will help streamers, broadcasters and content owners find their winning plays to connect fans everywhere with the increased cost-effectiveness, high-quality and scalability our solutions provide.”
Synamedia’s collaborations with partners will be on display at NAB, including its dynamic ad-insertion solution in the AWS booth (W1701) and its DRM secured ultra-low latency video streaming solution for real-time sports applications in the castLabs booth (W2312).
On Saturday, April 13th at 3:40pm PT, Synamedia’s Distinguished Engineer Dr. Gwendal Simon will present at the Broadcast Engineering and IT Conference on “Next-Generation Tokens to Fight Piracy and CDN Leeching”. Details here.
