Hearst Networks EMEA moves to Synamedia cloud distribution to cut costs and increase reliability

London, 4th March 2025 – Leading video software provider, Synamedia, today announced that Hearst Networks EMEA, formerly A+E Networks EMEA, has partnered with Synamedia for cloud distribution of its linear channels, including The HISTORY Channel. Hearst Networks will use Synamedia SaaS-based Quortex PowerVu as a fully managed service, cutting costs while increasing the reliability of distribution to 10 affiliates across EMEA.

Hearst Networks selected Synamedia for Quortex PowerVu’s technology features as well as the expertise at Synamedia’s Global Cloud Operations Centre in Bangalore, which specialises in DevOps for maintaining and operating media workflows in the cloud. Hearst Networks now has complete peace of mind with a dedicated team of engineers 24/7, full control and monitoring of content flows and end points, and incident management.

As well as securely delivering premium picture quality and bandwidth efficiency, Saas-based Quortex PowerVu gives Hearst Networks the benefits of integrated disaster recovery alongside support for open standards, making it possible to add new channels and distribution partners in hours instead of days. The new service will go live later this year running on AWS.

Matt Westrup, Chief Technology Officer at Hearst Networks EMEA, said, “We chose to partner with Synamedia because the company offered a risk-free way to move our distribution to the cloud and benefit from new levels of scalability and flexibility while cutting operating costs. When we assessed Synamedia’s CloudOps Centre, we were impressed by the calibre of its services and found a perfect match for our business needs.”

Elke Hungenaert, VP of Product Management at Synamedia, added, “Quortex PowerVu and our fully managed services provide a compelling proposition for content providers, such as Hearst Networks, who are ready to enjoy the benefits of switching to IP distribution. Because we support satellite, IP and CDN, we offer content owners the flexibility to evolve to IP at their own pace. And the addition of our managed services is the icing on the cake for anyone looking to outsource network management.”
